Officers responded around 3:38 p.m. to the 33000 block of 1st Avenue SE after receiving a distress call about a young child in need of urgent medical attention. Upon arrival, officers discovered the girl with visible signs of assault. She was quickly transported to a nearby hospital, where she was later pronounced dead despite life-saving efforts by medical personnel . Authorities confirmed that the child’s 29-year-old father was taken into custody at the scene. He was later interviewed and arrested on suspicion of murder.
