Pierce County, WA – May 13, 2025 – A construction worker sustained serious injuries early Tuesday morning after being struck by a vehicle involved in a crash on State Route 7 near Spanaway, according to the Washington State Patrol. The incident occurred at approximately 1:31 a.m. on State Route 7 near 188th Street. Authorities reported that a man was driving southbound when his vehicle collided with a traffic control trailer and a dump truck with a trailer. The force of the collision caused one of the vehicles to lunge forward, striking a construction worker who was in the work zone. Emergency personnel responded to the scene and transported the injured worker to a nearby hospital with serious injuries . Following the impact, the driver’s vehicle caught fire. Bystanders acted quickly, pulling the driver from the burning car before emergency services arrived. The driver was later taken to the hospital for treatment of his injuries.
