Daniel Canniff Killed in San Diego Motorcycle Crash
San Diego, CA, May 15 – Authorities have identified the motorcyclist who died after a collision on Friday afternoon in San Diego’s El Cerrito neighborhood. The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the rider as Daniel Thomas Canniff, 28, of La Mesa. The fatal crash occurred shortly before 1:00 p.m. at El Cajon Boulevard and 56th Street. According to the San Diego Police Department, a 22-year-old woman driving a Toyota sedan was traveling westbound on El Cajon Boulevard when she attempted to turn left onto 56th Street. At the same time, Canniff was riding an eastbound motorcycle on El Cajon Boulevard. Investigators said the motorcycle struck the front passenger side of the Toyota. Canniff suffered critical injuries and was transported by paramedics to Scripps Mercy Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at approximately 1:33 p.m. The Toyota driver reportedly sustained minor injuries and was also taken to a hospital for treatment.
