Umatilla County, OR (November 3, 2025) – A man was killed and two others were injured following a multi-vehicle collision in Umatilla County on Monday morning, according to the Oregon State Police. The fatal crash occurred along a rural stretch of highway when two vehicles collided under unclear circumstances. Emergency responders arrived to find Jose Sanchez, one of the drivers involved, with severe injuries. Despite life-saving efforts, Sanchez was pronounced dead at the scene. Two additional occupants were transported to a nearby hospital with injuries described as moderate to serious. Authorities have not yet released the cause of the collision, but the investigation remains ongoing.
Jose Sanchez Killed, Two Injured in Umatilla County Crash
A tragic two-vehicle head-on collision on U.S. 395 near Hermiston and Umatilla claimed the life of 24-year-old Jose Sanchez of Umatilla and left two others injured.
According to the Oregon State Police, at approximately 9:24 a.m., a southbound Volkswagen Passat driven by 24-year-old Tyler Garrett of Hermiston crossed into the northbound lane for unknown reasons and struck a northbound Nissan 370 operated by 25-year-old Hadasa Sanchez of Umatilla. Jose Sanchez was a passenger in the Nissan and was declared deceased at the scene. Hadasa Sanchez was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries, while the Volkswagen driver was also taken to a hospital with critical injuries
