Man Sentenced to Life in Prison for 2022 Tracy Convenience Store Attack
Tracy, CA, May 20 – A man convicted in a violent 2022 attack that left a convenience store clerk with catastrophic injuries has been sentenced to life in prison plus an additional 14 years, prosecutors announced Tuesday. According to the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office, Rene Vega was sentenced on May 4 after being found guilty of attempted murder, aggravated mayhem, attempted robbery, and criminal threats. Prosecutors said the conviction also included enhancements for causing great bodily injury and the use of a deadly weapon during the attack. The assault, which occurred in 2022 at a Tracy convenience store, left the victim suffering severe and life-altering injuries.
