Baker County, OR – August 18, 2025 – A 74-year-old Stanfield man lost his life Monday evening in a motorcycle accident on Highway 26, according to the Oregon State Police. Officials reported that the crash occurred around 5:48 p.m. near milepost 221. The rider, identified as Michael Allen Klaus, was traveling westbound on a Kawasaki Ninja when he lost control of the motorcycle and slid into the westbound ditch. Tragically, Klaus did not survive the crash.
Michael Klaus Dies in Motorcycle Accident on Highway 26 in Baker County
Baker County, OR – A deadly motorcycle crash on Highway 26 in Baker County claimed the life of 56-year-old Michael Klaus on Sunday afternoon, August 17, 2025.
According to the Oregon State Police, the collision happened around 4:10 p.m. when Klaus, of Prairie City, was riding his motorcycle along Highway 26. For reasons still under investigation, his motorcycle left the roadway and crashed. Emergency personnel responded quickly, but despite life-saving efforts, Klaus was pronounced dead at the scene. No other vehicles were reported to be involved in the accident.
