San Mateo County, CA, June 28, 2025 – A motorcyclist was tragically killed Saturday morning after his bike plunged down a steep cliffside near Polhemus Road and Highway 92 in unincorporated San Mateo County, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).Emergency crews responded to the scene around 7:54 a.m., where they located the downed motorcycle and an unresponsive rider at the base of the cliff, not far from the San Mateo County Coroner’s Office. Firefighters used ropes to rappel down and reach the victim. Despite their efforts, the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The coroner’s office has taken custody of the body, and officials are working to identify the victim. The CHP is actively investigating the cause of the incident, including whether speed, road conditions, or mechanical issues played a role. No other vehicles were reported to be involved.
