Pedestrian Killed After Being Struck by Train Near Chesterfield Drive in Encinitas
Encinitas, CA – April 22 – Authorities are investigating a fatal incident in which a pedestrian was struck by a train Wednesday afternoon in the Cardiff area of Encinitas, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office.Officials reported that the incident occurred at approximately 1 p.m. near Chesterfield Drive and South Coast Highway 101.Preliminary information indicates that a pedestrian was hit by a Coaster train while on or near the tracks. Investigators have not yet determined how the individual came to be in the path of the train.Emergency responders arrived at the scene and confirmed that the pedestrian sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the location.
