Carolyn Afari joined Culver Legal’s litigation department as a trial attorney in December 2023. Carolyn was admitted to the State Bar of California and the United States District Court for the Central District of California in 2012. Carolyn received her Bachelor of Science from the University of Southern California in Business Administration with an emphasis in Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, and Business Consulting. After several years of doing government contract negotiations for a Fortune 500 military defense contractor, Carolyn returned to school and obtained her Juris Doctorate from the University of West Los Angeles, School of Law. While in school, Carolyn dedicated countless hours tutoring other law students in subjects including, Contract, Property, Torts, Evidence, Civil Procedure, Legal Research and Writing, and Remedies.

Prior to joining Culver Legal, Carolyn practiced Bankruptcy law primarily handling Chapter 11 and Chapter 7 bankruptcy cases, and Adversary Proceeding cases helping both corporations and high net worth individuals reorganize hundreds of millions of dollars of debt, and represented financial institutions in asset protection and recovery.

In addition to the practice of law, in 2012, Carolyn was invited back to the University of West Los Angeles, School of Law as an adjunct professor for one year to teach Legal Research and Writing. Carolyn also co-authored a law school textbook used by M. Jonathan Hayes called A Summary of the Law of Business Organizations by M. Jonathan Hayes and Carolyn M. Afari © 2015. Carolyn has been selected to the Super Lawyers – Southern California Rising Stars List for 2014-2023. Carolyn is fluent in Farsi and conversant in Spanish. In her spare time, Carolyn enjoys spending time with her family and friends and giving back to her community.
