Cajon Pass, CA – November 28, 2024 – A tragic accident occurred early Thursday morning when a pedestrian was fatally struck by a semi-truck on southbound Interstate 15 in Cajon Pass. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) was alerted to the incident at 2:03 a.m. and responded to the scene, located approximately two miles past the Cleghorn Road exit.

Initial reports suggested a collision between a semi-truck and a white Ford Edge SUV, but the situation was quickly upgraded to indicate that a pedestrian had been hit by the semi in the slow lane. Upon arrival, CHP officers and the San Bernardino County Fire Department found the pedestrian lying on the ground, with the semi blocking the slow lane and the Ford Edge positioned on the freeway’s right shoulder.

The pedestrian, whose identity has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. The cause of the pedestrian’s presence on the freeway remains unclear, and the California Highway Patrol’s Inland Office is investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
