The fatal collision occurred around 11:40 p.m. at the intersection of Avenue J and Halstead Avenue. Authorities reported that Amaro was walking northbound across Avenue J when he was struck by a westbound sedan. A second vehicle, a Toyota Camry, also struck the pedestrian. Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced Amaro dead. The driver of the Toyota Camry remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. No other injuries were reported, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
