Anaheim, CA – A tragic crash claimed the lives of two people, including a toddler, on Saturday evening on the 5 Freeway in Anaheim, according to the California Highway Patrol. The fatal collision occurred at approximately 7:10 p.m. on the northbound lanes of the 5 Freeway near Magnolia Avenue . Authorities say a woman driving a white Chevy SUV lost control of her vehicle and collided with a Ford SUV carrying five occupants, including a young child. The crash was so severe that the Ford ended up facing the wrong way on the freeway shoulder, while the Chevy SUV reportedly rolled over several times before coming to rest on a nearby embankment. Tragically, an elderly man and a toddler in the Ford were pronounced dead at the scene. The remaining three occupants of the Ford sustained injuries and were transported to a hospital in unknown condition. The driver of the Chevy SUV also suffered major injuries and was hospitalized. Investigators believe alcohol or drugs may have played a role in the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
