Toddler and Grandfather Killed in Suspected DUI Accident on 5 Freeway near Magnolia Avenue in Anaheim
Anaheim, CA. – The tragic victims of a suspected DUI accident on April 19, 2024, on the northbound Interstate 5 near Magnolia Avenue in Anaheim have been identified as 73-year-old Albino Barrera and his granddaughter, 3-year-old Sofia Barrera. According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident occurred around 7:00 p.m., when a white Chevrolet SUV, driven by a female suspected of driving under the influence, lost control and collided with the Ford SUV driven by Sofia’s mother. The impact of the crash led to the deaths of Sofia and her grandfather, Albino Barrera, who were pronounced dead at the scene . Sofia’s mother, her grandmother, and brother Ishmael Barrera Romero were all taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries. The female driver of the Chevrolet SUV was also transported to the hospital with serious injuries and is suspected of being under the influence at the time of the crash.
