The collision happened around 7:25 p.m. on September 20 in the 11800 block of Pinon Avenue. An 18-year-old and a 19-year-old were traveling on a scooter when they were hit by a silver 2011 Kia Optima. One victim sustained critical injuries, was taken to Desert Valley Hospital, and later airlifted to an out-of-area trauma center. The second woman suffered unspecified injuries and was transported by ground ambulance.
