South Prairie, WA, November 4, 2025 – Authorities are investigating a fatal pedestrian accident that claimed the life of a 41-year-old Covington woman on Tuesday evening in Pierce County. According to a report from the Washington State Patrol (WSP), the collision occurred at approximately 5:18 p.m. on State Route 162, just west of Lower Burnett Road. The woman was walking in the eastbound lane of SR 162 when she was struck by an eastbound vehicle. Emergency responders arrived quickly but pronounced the woman dead at the scene. Her identity has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin. Authorities confirmed that the driver involved stopped immediately and cooperated with investigators. The WSP continues to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

A 41-year-old woman from Covington, Washington, was fatally struck by a vehicle while walking on State Route 162 eastbound near the Prairie Heights area late Tuesday afternoon. The collision occurred just before 5:15 p.m., according to the Washington State Patrol, and the victim succumbed to her injuries a short time later.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and was uninjured. Investigators are looking into whether impairment, visibility, or other factors may have contributed to the fatal incident. Eastbound lanes were closed for more than three hours for the crash investigation and scene clearance
