Alleged Cartel-Linked Drug Trafficker Extradited to San Diego on Federal Charges
San Diego, CA, November 18, 2025 – A man accused of operating a cross-border drug smuggling network with alleged ties to the Sinaloa Cartel has been extradited to San Diego to face federal narcotics and firearms charges, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Prosecutors allege that 34-year-old Marco Antonio Lopez-Guerrero of Mexicali coordinated the trafficking of methamphetamine into the United States using multiple methods, including recruiting young girls to carry the drugs through Southern California ports of entry. Federal officials say the meth was later distributed throughout San Diego, San Bernardino, and other cities.Authorities also accuse Lopez-Guerrero of using an ultralight aircraft to move drugs northbound and to transport weapons back into Mexico.
