At Least One Hospitalized After Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-880
Oakland, CA – February 4 – At least one person was hospitalized Wednesday afternoon following a complex multi-vehicle collision on Interstate 880 in Oakland, authorities reported. According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 3:40 p.m. on the northbound lanes of I-880 at the High Street off-ramp. Officials said six vehicles were involved in the collision, including a white Ford truck, a black Nissan Altima, a red Lexus, and a gray Nissan Rogue. Investigators reported that the Ford truck overturned during the crash but ultimately landed back on its wheels. The impact caused the driver’s side wheel to detach and cross into the southbound lanes, where it struck a vehicle being transported on a car hauler. Witnesses told authorities that the Nissan Altima was traveling at a high rate of speed before the collision. The driver of the Ford was transported to Highland Hospital with injuries that were not immediately described.
