CHP Investigating Possible Freeway Shooting on Interstate 215 near Ramona Expressway
Perris, CA – March 2 – Authorities are investigating a possible freeway shooting that occurred Monday evening along Interstate 215 in Perris, officials said. At approximately 8:00 p.m., officers with the California Highway Patrol responded to reports of gunfire on the northbound I-215 near the Ramona Expressway. A woman told investigators she was driving northbound when she heard a loud noise and initially believed her vehicle had suffered a flat tire. After pulling over in a well-lit area, the driver discovered what appeared to be a bullet hole in the lower portion of the driver-side door and contacted authorities.CHP officers examined the vehicle and confirmed the presence of a bullet hole. Investigators said the woman had not been involved in any road rage incident or confrontation before the discovery and was likely not the intended target. Authorities believe the shooting may have been random.
