Driver Killed After Crashing Into Rear of Parked Semi-Trailer on 91 Freeway in Riverside
Riverside, CA, July 16, 2025 – A tragic crash claimed the life of one person late Wednesday night, July 16, 2025, when a sedan slammed into the back of a semi-trailer parked on the shoulder of the westbound 91 Freeway under La Sierra Avenue in Riverside. The incident occurred just before midnight, prompting a response from the California Highway Patrol, Riverside City Fire Department, and AMR paramedics. Upon arrival, emergency crews found a small sedan lodged more than halfway under the rear of a semi-trailer. Firefighters initially requested a heavy rescue truck for extrication, but later canceled the request. The driver of the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene. It remains unclear whether there were additional occupants in the vehicle.
