Elderly Pedestrian Seriously Injured in Berkeley Crash
Berkeley, CA, April 29 – An elderly woman was hospitalized with serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle Wednesday morning in North Berkeley, authorities reported. According to the Berkeley Police Department, the incident occurred around 10:00 a.m. in the 1800 block of Hearst Avenue near Grant Street. Investigators determined that the woman was crossing Hearst Avenue within a marked crosswalk when she was hit by an eastbound 1995 Toyota T100 truck. Officers and firefighters arrived promptly at the scene and provided aid to the victim, who was identified only as a woman in her 80s. She sustained significant injuries, including a possible skull fracture, a scalp laceration, a broken arm, and leg injuries. Paramedics transported her to Highland Hospital for further treatment.
