Fresno County, CA, June 8, 2025 – A tragic solo motorcycle accident claimed the life of 42-year-old Eric Abbott of Visalia on Sunday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol. The fatal crash occurred at approximately 5:10 p.m. on Highway 180, about 2.5 miles east of Hume Road in the mountainous region of eastern Fresno County. Authorities say Abbott was riding a black Suzuki motorcycle westbound on the highway when he approached a curve in the roadway. For reasons still under investigation, Abbott was unable to successfully navigate the curve. His motorcycle veered off the roadway and collided with a nearby mountainside, resulting in fatal injuries. Emergency responders arrived at the scene but were unable to save Abbott. He was pronounced deceased at the site of the crash.
