September 28, 2025 – Panorama City, CA. – Authorities have identified the victim of a fatal hit-and-run scooter accident as 34-year-old Gary Schombert.The deadly collision occurred around 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of Woodman Avenue and Strathern Street, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office. Schombert was traveling northbound on Woodman Avenue on a motorized scooter when he was struck by a gray four-door Honda sedan traveling in the same direction. The impact ejected Schombert from the scooter, and despite emergency response, he was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Honda fled immediately after the crash, leaving the victim behind. Police are actively investigating the incident and searching for the suspect.

A man identified as 66-year-old Gary Schombert was killed following a scooter accident on Wednesday morning at the intersection of Woodman Avenue and Strathern Street in Panorama City.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the crash happened shortly before 9:00 a.m. when Schombert, who was riding a scooter, collided with a vehicle under circumstances still under investigation. Emergency crews responded and attempted lifesaving efforts, but Schombert tragically succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The driver of the vehicle remained at the location and cooperated with investigators. Authorities are continuing to determine the exact cause of the accident.
