Heavy Snowstorm Buries Vehicles, Damages Homes Across San Bernardino Mountains
San Bernardino Mountains, CA – February 20 – Heavy snowfall continued overnight across the San Bernardino Mountains early Thursday morning, creating hazardous conditions and widespread storm-related damage throughout the region. Despite forecasts predicting the storm would weaken, snow continued accumulating around 1:30 a.m., leaving dozens of vehicles abandoned and buried along mountain roads. Snowplow crews worked through the night to keep major highways open, though many residential streets remained difficult or impossible to access.
