Boyle Heights, CA – June 1, 2025 – A high-speed pursuit through East Los Angeles ended in tragedy early Friday morning when a suspect crashed a luxury vehicle and later died following a foot chase and medical emergency, according to the California Highway Patrol. The incident began around 3:15 a.m. on May 30 when CHP officers attempted to stop a silver Aston Martin for speeding near Indiana Street and Gleason Avenue. Officers reported the vehicle was traveling more than 70 miles per hour on local surface streets. When the driver refused to pull over, officers initiated a pursuit. However, due to the suspect’s reckless speed, ground units terminated the chase for safety reasons. A CHP air unit, however, continued tracking the vehicle overhead. A short time later, the suspect crashed into a utility pole near the intersection of Washington Boulevard and Soto Street in Boyle Heights. After the crash, he fled the vehicle on foot but was located by officers approximately a block away and tackled to the ground. According to CHP Sgt. Dan Keene, the suspect then suffered a sudden medical emergency and appeared to go into cardiac arrest. Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and attempted life-saving measures, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

In the early hours of May 30, 2025, a high-speed pursuit in Boyle Heights concluded tragically when the driver of a silver Aston Martin crashed into a utility pole and later died after being taken into custody. The incident began around 3:15 a.m. when California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers attempted to stop the vehicle for speeding over 70 mph near Indiana Street and Gleason Avenue in East Los Angeles. Due to the dangerous speeds, officers terminated the ground pursuit after approximately two minutes, though an air unit continued to monitor the vehicle. Shortly thereafter, the driver collided with a light pole at the intersection of Washington Boulevard and Soto Street. He exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended by officers using minimal force. While in custody, the suspect exhibited signs of medical distress, including vomiting, and despite immediate medical attention, he was pronounced dead at the scene
