Man Dies in Single-Vehicle Crash on Highway 99 Near Highway 180 in Fresno
Fresno, CA – December 3, 2025,A man was killed Wednesday night in a single-vehicle collision on southbound Highway 99 just south of Highway 180, according to the California Highway Patrol. The crash occurred around 10:30 p.m. when the driver of a black Nissan Sentra made an unsafe turn, causing the vehicle to veer off the roadway. The car struck an overhead sign pole with such force that its engine block was launched into the lanes of traffic. Three passing vehicles hit the dislodged engine block, resulting in minor injuries to occupants. Emergency personnel attempted life-saving measures on the Nissan driver before transporting him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead around 11 p.m.Southbound lanes of Highway 99 were temporarily closed as crews cleared the scene. Authorities have not determined whether impairment played a role. The CHP continues to investigate the incident.
