However, during the investigation, inconsistencies in the mother’s account led officers to determine that the child was never missing. Authorities say the mother, whose identity has not yet been released, fabricated the report. Investigators did not publicly disclose her motive, but confirmed that the child was safe and unharmed. He was located with family members and placed in protective custody while social services evaluated the situation.
