One Killed in Fiery Crash on SR-54 Near SR-125 Interchange in Bonita
San Diego County, CA – March 28 – At least one person was killed Saturday afternoon following a fiery two-vehicle collision on State Route 54 near Bonita, according to the California Highway Patrol. Authorities reported that the crash occurred at approximately 3:33 p.m. in the eastbound lanes just east of the State Route 125 interchange. Preliminary findings indicate that a gold Subaru sedan was traveling at a high rate of speed when it failed to slow and collided with the rear of a tow truck that was stopped along the right shoulder. The impact caused both vehicles to catch fire, with at least one becoming fully engulfed in flames. Authorities also reported that nearby brush ignited as a result of the crash. Emergency responders arrived at the scene and worked to extinguish the fire and secure the area. Officials confirmed that at least one person sustained fatal injuries.
