Oceanside, CA, July 21, 2025 – One person was found dead following a destructive house fire that broke out early Monday morning, July 21, 2025, in Oceanside. Emergency crews responded to the scene around 3:37 a.m. at a two-story residence located at 2087 Wedgewood Drive. Upon arrival, firefighters found the second floor of the home fully engulfed in flames. Despite their efforts to contain the blaze, one individual was tragically found deceased inside the home. Oceanside tactical units and SWAT were also present at the scene. Authorities noted that the same residence had been the subject of an armed standoff on Friday night involving a suspect armed in the backyard. Officers negotiated with the individual and left the scene that night. It remains unclear whether that prior incident is connected to the fatal fire.
