Passenger Killed After Nissan GTR Flies Off Freeway on WB 78 near Las Posas in San Marcos
San Marcos, July 19, 2025, CA – A deadly crash occurred early Saturday morning, July 19, 2025, when a Nissan GTR flew off the westbound side of State Route 78 near Las Posas Road and landed in the yard of a nearby business, according to the California Highway Patrol. The incident was reported around 2:00 a.m. Emergency crews from CHP, local fire departments, and paramedics responded quickly to the scene on Descanso Avenue, where they discovered the vehicle had gone off the freeway and crashed through a fence into private property. Firefighters performed extrication on both occupants. The driver was removed first and rushed to a trauma center with major injuries. The passenger required extensive extrication and was pronounced dead at the scene.
