Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Vehicle on N. 2nd Street in El Cajon
El Cajon, CA – May 19, 2025 – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle early Monday morning in El Cajon, according to local authorities. The fatal incident occurred around 4:46 a.m. near the intersection of North 2nd Street and El Rey Avenue. Reports from the scene indicate that a female driver was traveling northbound on N. 2nd Street when she suddenly saw a man in her lane of traffic. The pedestrian, who was reportedly wearing all black, was hit by the vehicle. The force of the impact caused the man to strike the car’s hood, windshield, and ultimately land on the roof. First responders arrived quickly and found the victim unconscious and not breathing, with severe head injuries. Paramedics initiated CPR at the scene and continued life-saving efforts en route to Sharp Memorial Hospital. Despite their efforts, the pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the hospital . The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. At this time, there are no indications of impairment or reckless driving, and no arrests have been made. Northbound lanes of N. 2nd Street were closed at Flamingo Avenue for several hours while investigators with the El Cajon Police Department worked to examine the scene and determine the circumstances surrounding the collision.
