The collision occurred at approximately 9:15 p.m. on January 10, 2026, in the 2300 block of El Cajon Boulevard. Police said a 36-year-old man was attempting to cross the street from the north side to the south when a westbound 2007 Mercedes-Benz S550 hit him. Authorities noted the pedestrian was crossing outside of a marked crosswalk at the time of the impact. Responding officers and fire crews found the victim with severe injuries, including a partial foot amputation and an open fracture to one leg. Paramedics transported him to a hospital for treatment of major injuries.
