San Diego, California. At approximately 5:20 a.m., a female pedestrian was attempting to cross the freeway toward 43rd Street when she was struck by a Chevrolet Tahoe SUV. Emergency responders arrived promptly; however, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
