Political Dispute Prompts Police Response at Riverside Restaurant
Riverside, CA, June 14, 2025 – A politically charged confrontation led to a heavy police presence Saturday afternoon outside LAWS Restaurant, located at 9640 Indiana Avenue in Riverside. The incident began around 3:30 p.m. when the Riverside Police Department received reports of a man possibly armed with multiple weapons. Officers responded swiftly, surrounding the area and detaining two men who had just exited the restaurant. According to officials at the scene, the initial call stemmed from a reported altercation hours earlier involving the same individuals and a group of protesters on the 91 Freeway overpass at 14th Street. The nature of the conflict was political. Witnesses reported that the detained men were wearing pro-Trump shirts, and their vehicle was covered in political and Trump-themed stickers. A friend of the individuals said he believed the earlier dispute with protesters may have prompted the weapons complaint. Police conducted a full search of the vehicle while onlookers recorded the scene. Despite the initial report, no weapons were found, and it remains unclear whether either man was formally taken into custody.
