Santa Ana, CA (January 30, 2024) – Juan Lopez Peñuelas, 37, of San Clemente, tragically lost his life in an auto-pedestrian accident in Santa Ana on January 22, according to the Santa Ana Police Department. The collision occurred around 6:15 p.m. at the intersection of First Street and Harbor Boulevard. Police report that Peñuelas was walking south across First Street when he was struck by an eastbound vehicle. Emergency responders performed life-saving efforts on Peñuelas before rushing him to a nearby hospital. Despite the attempts to save him, Peñuelas succumbed to his injuries at the hospital .The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is not suspected of driving under the influence. Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the crash.
