Three Men Rescued and Detained After Failed Attempt to Climb Border Wall in San Diego
San Diego, CA – June 14, 2025 – Three men attempting to enter the United States illegally were rescued by emergency crews early Saturday morning after becoming entangled in razor wire atop the U.S.-Mexico border wall near Otay Mesa. According to reports, San Diego Fire-Rescue responded at approximately 4:57 a.m. to a section of the primary wall west of the Otay Mesa Port of Entry. The men had attempted to scale the fortified barrier using a makeshift contraption involving a carpet roll attached to a rope, a method intended to bypass the newly installed razor wire. Rather than using the traditional ladder approach, the suspects wrapped the carpet over the razor wire for protection and attempted to climb, but became stuck in the process . Rescuers safely retrieved all three men using a ladder. Fortunately, none of the individuals sustained injuries during the incident. U.S. Border Patrol agents took the men into custody immediately following their rescue. Mexican Federal Police were visible on the opposite side of the wall but did not intervene during the recovery operation.
