Woman Killed in Head-On Collision in Mission Viejo; DUI Suspected

Mission Viejo, CA – A tragic crash early Wednesday morning in Mission Viejo resulted in the death of one woman and the hospitalization of two others.

The collision occurred around 1:45 a.m. at the intersection of Marguerite Parkway and Pueblonuevo Drive, as reported by the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. A Chevrolet Malibu, driven by 26-year-old Geraldine Caicedo-Perez, was traveling the wrong way in the southbound lanes of Marguerite Parkway when it collided head-on with a Toyota Camry.

The woman driving the Camry was rushed to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. Caicedo-Perez and her passenger were injured and taken to the hospital for treatment.

Caicedo-Perez was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and gross vehicular manslaughter. She was subsequently booked into the Orange County Jail.
