2 Critically Injured in Aguanga Car Accident on State Route 371 near Puckit Drive

Aguanga, CA – Two individuals were critically injured in a head-on collision that occurred Thursday afternoon on State Route 371 near the Cahuilla Indian Reservation. The crash took place around 12:30 p.m. just east of Puckit Drive, according to the California Highway Patrol . Authorities say a red Toyota Corolla traveling toward Indio collided with a white Chevy Impala that was heading southbound on SR-371. The impact caused significant damage to both vehicles, trapping the drivers inside. Cal Fire/Riverside County firefighters responded to the scene and used the Jaws of Life to extricate both victims. One of the drivers was airlifted to Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar, while the other was flown to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs. Both were reported to be in critical condition.CHP officials stated that alcohol was not a factor in the crash. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
