Sacramento, CA – A pedestrian was fatally struck in an accident that occurred early Saturday morning on Business 80 near the American River, according to the California Highway Patrol. The incident was reported at approximately 5:20 a.m. on April 12. Authorities said an Audi A6 was traveling in the No. 3 southbound lane when the driver attempted to swerve to avoid a pedestrian in the roadway but was unable to avoid impact . The pedestrian was initially hit by the Audi and then struck again by a Mazda CX-30 SUV traveling behind it. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene. The roadway was shut down for nearly an hour as authorities conducted an investigation.
