The crash occurred at milepost 54 at approximately 11 a.m. on February 23. Authorities reported that a 21-year-old driver was traveling southbound at a high rate of speed when their vehicle struck a second car. The impact caused the first vehicle to veer off the roadway and fall nearly 30 feet down an embankment. Emergency responders transported the driver of the first vehicle to a hospital with unspecified injuries . The second vehicle collided with the center median, but its three occupants were unharmed.The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
