Tempe, AZ – A 13-year-old boy sustained serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle near McClintock and Watson Drives on Saturday morning. According to the Tempe Police Department, the crash occurred around 11 a.m. when an elderly driver ran a red light at Watson Drive and collided with the boy, who was crossing in the crosswalk. Emergency responders transported the teen to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.McClintock Drive was temporarily closed between Southshore Drive and Julie Drive during the investigation. Officials have not released further details as the investigation continues.
