San Jose, CA – December 14, 2025 –  A 49-year-old man lost his life Sunday morning after a single-vehicle crash on State Route 17 in San Jose, according to the California Highway Patrol. The collision occurred around 10:39 a.m. near Vine Hill Road. CHP investigators said the man was driving a black 2025 Toyota Tacoma southbound when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. The truck then continued moving southeast before crashing into the center median barrier. Emergency responders attempted life-saving measures, but the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin. Authorities are investigating whether alcohol or drugs may have been factors in the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
