Modesto, CA – A man who died in a car crash early Sunday morning on Highway 99 has been identified as 39-year-old Carl Welch of Delhi, according to the Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office. The accident happened around 12:45 a.m. on March 30, just south of Pelandale Avenue.Authorities said Welch was driving a white Toyota sedan at a high rate of speed in the southbound lanes when he rear-ended another vehicle. After the impact, his vehicle drifted off the roadway and overturned. Emergency crews extricated Welch from the wreckage and transported him to Doctor’s Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
