Cement Mixer Crashes Into Homes, Displacing 18 People in Daly City

On the morning of May 30, 2025, a runaway cement mixer truck rolled down a steep street in Daly City and crashed into two homes on Shipley Avenue near Simpson Drive. The unoccupied truck, which had been parked at a nearby construction site, struck a parked vehicle before embedding itself into the front of one home and partially lodging into the neighboring residence  

Fortunately, no injuries were reported. However, the impact caused significant structural damage to both homes, leading the Daly City Building Department to red-tag the properties, deeming them unsafe for habitation. As a result, at least 18 residents were displaced  

Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) crews were called to the scene to shut off utilities to the affected homes. Emergency responders worked for hours to stabilize the structures and remove the cement mixer from the site .
