Modesto, CA, July 15, 2025 – Authorities have identified 34-year-old David Torres Garcia as the man who was killed in a crash involving a semi-truck on Monday morning, July 15, at a Modesto intersection. According to the Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office, the fatal crash occurred around 10:14 a.m. at the intersection of South Carpenter Road and West Monte Vista Avenue . Investigators said Torres Garcia, a Turlock resident, was driving a Toyota Camry eastbound on Monte Vista Avenue when he entered the intersection and was struck by a 2020 Freightliner big rig traveling southbound on Carpenter Road. The truck driver, 54-year-old Julio Hernandez of Fresno, reportedly had the right of way and was not required to stop. Torres Garcia’s vehicle was hit on the driver’s side and sustained catastrophic damage. He was the sole occupant of the Camry and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the big rig remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
