The crash occurred around 11:05 a.m. on San Vicente Road, east of Camino Arriba. CHP officials said Ostermann was driving a 2006 Club Car golf cart westbound when, for reasons still under investigation, it collided head-on with an eastbound 2004 Toyota Tundra. Ostermann was ejected from the cart upon impact and was transported to Palomar Hospital with major injuries. The 30-year-old El Cajon man driving the Tundra was uninjured. Authorities said impairment is not believed to have contributed to the collision. The investigation remains ongoing.
