Joel Sanchez Perez Killed in Wrong-Way Crash on Highway 99 in Delano
Delano, CA – April 4 – Authorities have identified the passenger who died in a multi-vehicle wrong-way collision Saturday night on Highway 99 in Delano, according to the Kern County Coroner’s Office. Officials reported that Joel Salomon Sanchez Perez, a 55-year-old man from Vallejo, was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash occurred at approximately 9:17 p.m. near Ninth Avenue. Preliminary findings indicate that a Tesla driven by a 28-year-old man was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of Highway 99 when it collided head-on with a Nissan driven by a 49-year-old woman. Authorities said a third vehicle, a Dodge Charger operated by a 23-year-old woman traveling behind the Nissan, was unable to avoid the crash and subsequently collided with the Nissan.
