Man Seriously Injured After Being Struck by Freight Train Near Lookout Park in Santa Barbara County
Santa Barbara County, CA – February 10 – A man was hospitalized Tuesday afternoon after being struck by a freight train near Summerland, authorities said. The incident was reported shortly after 5 p.m. between Lookout Park and Fernald Point. Firefighters with the Montecito Fire Protection District, along with other emergency personnel, responded to the scene and located the injured pedestrian on the railroad tracks. Preliminary information indicates the man was hit by a passing freight train, though officials have not yet determined how the collision occurred. First responders administered aid at the scene before transporting the victim to Lookout Park, where he was transferred to an AMR ambulance and taken to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.
