Pedestrian Killed After Being Struck by Semi-Truck on Highway 29 in Napa
Napa, CA – March 31– Authorities are investigating a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred Tuesday afternoon on State Route 29 near Napa, according to the California Highway Patrol. The incident was reported at approximately 12:16 p.m. on the southbound lanes of Highway 29 just south of Hoffman Lane. Preliminary information indicates that a Peterbilt semi-truck traveling southbound struck a pedestrian who was reportedly standing or walking in the middle of a traffic lane at the time of the collision. Emergency responders arrived at the scene and pronounced the pedestrian dead from injuries sustained in the crash. Authorities described the victim as a male believed to be in his late 20s or 30s. His identity has not been released. Officials reported that the driver of the semi-truck pulled over to the right shoulder following the incident. Authorities also noted that the individual may have been seen in the area previously or may have attempted a similar action the night before.
