Police Open Fire on Armed Robbery Suspect at Winchell’s Donut Shop in Los Angeles
Los Angeles, CA – June 1, 2025 – A suspect accused of committing an armed robbery at a Winchell’s donut shop in the Harvard Heights neighborhood was shot at by Los Angeles police officers and later taken into custody early Wednesday morning, according to the LAPD. The incident occurred at approximately 3:21 a.m. on May 28 at the Winchell’s located in the 1700 block of South Western Avenue, near Venice Boulevard. Authorities responded to reports of a man armed with a gun who had allegedly assaulted a female employee during a robbery . The suspect, identified as 41-year-old Christopher Hall, fled the scene as officers arrived. A police air unit located him at a nearby apartment complex, where he was seen attempting to change clothes to evade detection. According to police, Hall was armed at the time and officers opened fire, though no one was hit in the exchange. Officers then deployed a stun gun and were able to take Hall into custody without further incident.
