The incident occurred at around 3:25 p.m. in the 200 block of Mission Avenue. According to emergency radio traffic and officials on scene, the female pedestrian was struck by a Coaster train under unknown circumstances. The crash resulted in severe injuries, including major head trauma. Firefighters were the first to arrive and began life-saving measures at the scene. Due to the severity of her injuries, the woman was airlifted to Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla in critical condition. Authorities closed off the area while the Sheriff’s rail authority launched an investigation into the incident.
